General Motors
Maury County is home to GM Spring Hill Manufacturing where they build industry-leading vehicles like the GMC Acadia, Cadillac XT5, XT6 and the all-electric LYRIQ in the same complex where they build engines that power more than 16 different GM models. With over 3700 employees, GM Spring Hill makes up an integral part of the local economy, according to a new report from Oxford Economics, a leading independent economic advisory firm. In 2022, the report demonstrated that the company’s local operations, spending with suppliers, investments and payment of wages to its employees supported more than 21,000 jobs and contributed a total GDP (gross domestic product) impact of $3.3 billion in the state of Tennessee.
In addition to its economic support of our region, GM’s commitment to strengthening communities includes philanthropic outreach and collaborating with community partners to prepare the next generation for future careers. GM has donated $930k to area nonprofits since 2019 ($160,000 this year alone) including Columbia State, one of seven community colleges to receive an American Association of Community Colleges grant to develop advanced manufacturing certification programs. The GM Spring Hill team also supports the Southern Automotive Women’s Forum to support ‘All Girls Auto Know’, a one-day STEM program that exposes up to 250 middle school aged girls to careers in automotive and STEM fields.
GM says, “big ambitions are our specialty”. As the automotive industry transforms, GM has a momentous journey ahead and they are actively looking for people who want to discover a career that moves, connects and inspires.
